The 5 top AI tools & tips for grant teams

I love helping organizations shift through all the "shoulds" to quickly get clear on what the right tools and strategies are for their organization.

And AI is probably one of those things you are hearing about but haven't had the brain space to figure out how to best use.

So here is my quick and dirty AI guidance for small- and medium-sized NGOs and nonprofits.

Ready? Let’s get to it 🤓

AI TOOLS & TIPS

➡️ Tactiq

There are a bunch of AI-powered transcription services out there, and Tactiq is my favorite. First, the automatic transcription means that you can focus on the conversation and connecting human-to-human rather than furiously notetaking. Then, with the click of a button you can have Tactiq create a detailed summary of the meeting, write a thank you email to the donor, or draft the proposal you brainstormed on the call. Can transcribe meetings in English, Spanish, and other languages.

Price: 10 free transcriptions/month or unlimited transcriptions for $10/month.

➡️ Chat GPT

Think of ChatGPT as your super-fast assistant. You can create a free account and then use these prompts:

  1. Favorite prompt 1, to get your proposal down to word count in just 1 second: "Please condense the following text to [NUMBER WORDS OR CHARACTERS] while preserving the key messages and maintaining the original tone."

  2. Favorite prompt 2, to make your draft exciting and convincing in just 1 second: "Please revise the following draft [EMAIL / PROPOSAL / WHATEVER IT IS] to make it more powerful and punchy, ensuring it captures attention, inspires and convinces the reader to [AGREE TO A CALL / APPROVE OUR PROPOSAL / OR WHATEVER YOUR ASK IS]

  3. Favorite prompt 3, to make sure your website homepage is going to make a donor want to say "yes": "You are an expert copywriter at [NAME OF YOUR ORGANIZATION]. Rewrite the website copy of [INSERT URL OF YOUR WEBSITE] for clarity in a punchy tone and a clearer call to action. Rewrite it following these 5 sections: Problem we solve, how we solve it, how we prove our results, who we are, call to action. Please title each of these sections as you recommend. Please also let me know any areas for improvement you identify, such as a convincing problem statement or if we have included sufficient data points."
